The Women’s Center at Helen Keller Hospital provides comprehensive maternity care for families across Northwest Alabama. From pregnancy through delivery and postpartum care, our experienced OB/GYN physicians and nursing team are dedicated to supporting you every step of the way.

Our Labor & Delivery team provides modern, personalized care in a safe and supportive environment. With a focus on comfort, education and safety, we help families feel confident throughout their experience.

  • Highly trained Labor & Delivery and nursery nursing team
  • Private, home-like labor and delivery suites
  • Dedicated C-section room and recovery suite
  • Newly renovated Level II Special Care Nursery
  • Direct relationship with a Level III NICU through HH Health
  • Low nurse-to-patient ratios for personalized care
  • Approximately 800 deliveries annually

Our care team supports both mother and baby from delivery through discharge and beyond. Pediatric and nursing staff provide monitoring, education and guidance to ensure a healthy start.

Pain Management Options

We offer a range of pain management options to support your birth experience. Your care team will work with you to determine the best approach based on your preferences and medical needs.

Options may include:
  • Natural childbirth techniques (breathing, relaxation)
  • IV sedation
  • Nitrous oxide (laughing gas)
  • Epidural anesthesia

Supporting Your Growing Family

Helen Keller Hospital offers additional programs designed to celebrate and support your family beyond delivery.

A Star is Born Program

Families may purchase a commemorative brass star displayed in the Women’s Center to honor their newborn. Proceeds support hospital programs and services.

Bright Little Star Reading Initiative

Each baby born at Helen Keller Hospital receives a new book to encourage early reading and development from birth.
