Visitor Hours & Guidelines
Highlands Medical Center maintains visitation policies designed to support patient well-being while ensuring a safe environment for everyone.
General Visitation Hours
- 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week.
- For evening and weekend access, the main entrance doors close at 6 p.m. Visitors arriving after that time should enter through the Emergency Department. From Friday at 6:00 p.m. through Monday at 6 a.m., all visitors must use the Emergency Department entrance.

Gift Shop
The Highlands Medical Center Gift Shop is located on the first floor. Our gift shop is managed by the Highlands Medical Center Auxiliary volunteers. All proceeds benefit the Highlands Foundation and are used to purchase equipment needed for our facilities.
Café
The Highlands Café is located on the first floor near the main entrance.
Weekday Hours:
Breakfast: 6:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.
Lunch: 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Visitation Details
Patient Visitation Rights
Patients have the right to designate visitors and may withdraw consent at any time. Visitation will not be restricted based on race, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation or disability.
Support Persons
Patients may designate a support person to assist with visitation decisions if needed.
Safety & Health Guidelines
For the health and safety of our patients and staff visitors should:
- Be free of illness or fever
- Follow infection control guidelines
- Comply with any isolation precautions
- Follow staff instructions during care or emergencies
During emergency situations, visitors may be asked to step out temporarily.
Department-specific Guidelines
Certain departments may have additional visitation rules. Please check with care teams for specific guidance.
After-hours Access
An overhead announcement will be made at the conclusion of visiting hours. After visiting hours, access may be limited to designated entrances.
Virtual Visitation
Virtual visitation may be available when appropriate.
Tobacco-free Campus Policy
HH Health maintains a strict tobacco-free policy across all facilities and properties. Smoking, vaping and the use of any tobacco or nicotine products — including cigarettes, cigars, pipes, e-cigarettes, vaping devices and smokeless tobacco — are not permitted inside buildings, in outdoor areas such as entrances and parking lots, in hospital-owned vehicles or at any HH Health location. This policy applies to everyone. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe, healthy and healing environment for everyone.
Supporting Patients Who Use Tobacco
HH Health recognizes that quitting tobacco can be challenging. Patients who use tobacco products are encouraged to speak with their care team about available resources and support options during their hospital stay.
