HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – North Huntsville has a new home for primary care. On Tuesday, Huntsville Hospital cut the ribbon on Physician Care North Huntsville near the campus of Alabama A&M University (4701 Meridian St., Suite G). This new primary care facility fills a critical need for students, employees and families in an area that has historically had fewer convenient options for care.
Access to primary care is one of the most important factors in helping people stay healthy, manage chronic conditions and address health concerns before they become more serious. Physician Care North Huntsville helps meet that need by expanding access to preventive and routine care, making it easier for residents to establish a primary care provider close to home.
The new clinic will be led by provider Tammie Smith, PA, an alumna of Alabama A&M University. Physician Care North Huntsville will serve patients ages 18 and older and provide preventive screenings, annual physicals, employment and sports physicals, immunizations, chronic disease management and sick visits. The 3,200-square-foot facility includes five exam rooms and one procedure room.
“Our mission is to bring primary care and preventive services closer to neighbors across our community. That is exactly what Physician Care North Huntsville will do,” said Dwayne Mathis, executive director of the Huntsville Hospital Physicians Network. “Whether someone needs a routine checkup, help managing a chronic condition or care for an unexpected illness, having a trusted provider nearby makes it easier to get the right care at the right time.”
Expanding access to care close to home has been a longtime priority for Huntsville Hospital Health System (HH Health).

The clinic is located on property owned by Alabama A&M University and reflects a shared commitment to improving access to care and strengthening the health of the North Huntsville community.
