The Dempsey Foundation, established in 1997, continues the legacy of Dr. Walker Dempsey, who helped bring Red Bay Hospital to the community in 1967 and served the area for more than 40 years.
Through the generosity of donors and community partners, the Foundation supports Red Bay Hospital’s ability to provide high-quality, compassionate care close to home. Every contribution helps strengthen local healthcare services and ensures continued access to care for families across Northwest Alabama and surrounding communities.

Community Impact
The Foundation hosts an annual dinner fundraiser each fall and a golf tournament each spring, bringing the community together to support the hospital’s mission.
In addition, the Foundation awards two $2,000 scholarships each year to students pursuing careers in healthcare. Eligible applicants must be full-time students in good academic standing from Franklin, Colbert, Tishomingo or Itawamba Counties. These efforts help invest not only in today’s care, but in the future of healthcare across the region.
